A.IN.T - Art In Transit

A.IN.T (Art IN Transit) is one of the UK’s most underground brands. Started by London residents Charlie Crockett and Max Fowler back in 2006 the DIY clothing company is a concept forged from the lack of clothing in the market that represented them and their interests, something that progressed from creating hand screen tees for friends and family to one of the most unique brands in Britain.
Charlie: “We didn’t want to be defined by or pigeonholed by what someone else thought was a fresh graphic or piece of clothing that tied you down to just one subculture; so many brands out there had no relevance to what we’re about or what we find interesting. Making our own clothes just seemed like a natural solution; the first pieces we did were done purely for the love and for our friends; we made them in a garden shed just round the corner from my house.”
From the outset both Max and Charlie where keen to create something that wouldn’t be seen as archetypal ’streetwear’ the pair choose colours and graphics outside of normal spectrum, with the artwork for their initial releases titled ‘Disrepectfully Yours’ coming straight from the horror comics of old.
“Max found the phrase ‘Disrepectfully Yours’ in one of these Horror comics from his huge archive and we both agreed it just fit the bill perfectly as a name for the first collection. We’re deliberately not aligning ourselves to any one scene / type of music / clothing or whatever. If you get it and you like what we do, you’re down with A.IN.T. No one’s excluded just because they don’t fit any one stereotype; we don’t so theres no reason for them to either.”
With fans of the label including Lilly Allen, finding garms from the A.IN.T camp in UK retailers isn’t easy, but a post earlier this month from our friends over at Urban Industries tells us that they should be receiveing their shipment sometime this month.
